fix a blotchy uneven spray tan

What is this? Why is it here? How do we fix this?
Patchy streaky necks occurs when you get a spray [or self] tan that has makeup in it. Most spray tanning solutions have makeup to help the tanning artist apply it evenly but also to give you some instant gratification while your spray tan is developing. Once you’ve dried and put your clothes back on, if you have these creases here is the perfect solution. This also works if you get caught in a rainstorm, or liquid splatters on you.
This is how you can fix a streaky spray tan and look a little bit more presentable. You’re gonna need two things. First, you need Extend lotion, our concentrated sunless tanning cream. Second, you’ll need a cotton pad.

What I like to do is redistribute all of the tanning product so I’m gonna take a little bit of cream I’m gonna put together and distribute the cream so it’s a little bit wet. I’m gonna start kind of trying to blend in my neck. You can see some of that makeup is coming off. Don’t worry, your spray tan isn’t coming off. You’re actually applying more sunless tanner [if you use Extend] to the affected area. I’m helping to just kind of smooth and buff this all around to help give my neck a more natural look. It’s not always gonna be perfect but it’s certainly going to be better and more presentable. Don’t apply too much cream because you don’t want to overdo it. I’m just going to do a little bit more and kind of blend it. You can add a mineral powder makeup right over top once it’s dry to give it that flawless look. But it already looks tons better and my tan is still gonna turn out perfect.
Results: Here I am 24 hours later and everything is nice and even, the makeup washed off and now I’m left with a flawless glow.

The faster, the better!

Messy and/or streaky spray tans can and should be corrected before they develop! The trick is to catch it in time and have the right products on hand. Fixing a streaky spray tan can be done by anyone! Likely, there is no need for professional intervention in most cases.

If there is makeup in the tanning solution that’s been used on you, it may settle in creases of your skin. Many clients don’t want to go the whole day with this issue. More often than not, once the solution is washed off after the full development time, these creases will disappear on their own. Occasionally, if a heavy handed spray tan was applied, it may be noticeable even after a shower.

No crying over a streaky tan!

Don’t Panic!! Spray tans are surprisingly flexible and most issues can be fixed rather easily!!

Stuff Happens! Clients can get caught in a rain storm, spill drips on their skin while their spray tan is still developing, or sweat causing makeup disturbances or deep creases. This does NOT have to ruin their tan. It can be fixed!

What you will need:

A sunless tanning cream (spray or mousse) and a cotton pad or tanning mitt. Make sure to choose a cream that has ZERO makeup in it because we want to redistribute the existing makeup without adding more. Adding more makeup can make a big mess and your problem worse!

By applying self tanning cream [try our Extend] and blend the solution/makeup around the affected area. You are redistributing the spray tan solution and evening out the color. Even if the makeup looks disturbed, your end result will look great!
