What is it? A surveillance program for suspicious moles in order to keep track of moles for early detection of skin cancer and melanoma.
How is it done? This can include self examination and/or physician (dermatologist) examinations.
Who should get moles mapped? If you have high risk factors:
- Fair skin that has repeatedly been sun burned or exposed to UV (like tanning beds).
- More than 50 moles.
- Personal or family history of Melanoma.
When to do it? Resolve to do this yearly in the winter, when your skin has no tan. It’s perfect for a new years resolution!
