Top 3 Reasons Not To DIY Sunscreen

  1. Homogenizer – this tool is needed to break up the zinc and titanium dioxide powders enough to emulsify it so that it can be spread evenly to cover all your skin. If not distributed properly you may actually think your skin is protected when it’s not.
  2. Oils – many DIY tutorials recommend using coconut oil…oils can attract sunlight causing DNA damage. You many actually be doing more harm than good.
  3. SPF – it will be an unknown to most DIY’ers how much protection, if any they are actually getting.

We love all the awesome DIY tutorials you can find on Pinterest however not everything homemade is good for you. Making your own sunscreen, the right way, will cost you more $$ in the long run.

You don’t have to sacrifice your family’s health though, you can get chemical free sunscreen at your local supermarket.
